Multi-Sport Camp 7th-11th July

Uddingston Cricket and Sports Club hosted its first summer multi-sport camp last week.  The camp was a success with 32 children avoiding the temptation of X-box and television for a week during the holidays, to take part in sport and games action including football, hockey, rugby and cricket.  Throughout the week, children also took part in other activities that may make an appearance at future Commonwealth Games, these included; sand castle making competition, tug-of-war and octopus tig.

With the sunny weather it was fantastic to see the clubhouse and grounds so busy with active kids playing outdoors and making new friends.  Uddingston Cricket and Sports club will be looking to organise future camps during the holidays and expect them to be even more successful and busier.  Well done to all the children who took part, their good behaviour and enthusiasm made the camp a pleasure to run for coaches Tom and Matt.

Commonwealth Baton Route Confirmed

As we had previously reported, our very own Ross McWilliams will be a baton bearer for the Commonwealth Games. We are now pleased to confirm the route that he will run so we can get the whole club out to show our support to a local hero.

Ross will be carrying the baton along Uddingston Main Street on the afternoon of Sunday, 22 June. He will be handed the baton at lamppost R22 which is just before Pir Palace and he will run to Bellshill Road, so will finish at the Cross and pass the baton on to the next person. He will then be available for a short time for photos & autographs.

The relay will start at the Redstones and he should get the baton around 4.45 but best to make it there before 4.30 just to be on the safe side and to make sure that everyone gets a good spot.

It would be brilliant if everyone wore their Uddingston Club tops to support Ross and the club as there might be TV cameras and photographers.

Parking will be available at the club so please feel free to pop in and say hi!
