Pitch works on programme

UC&SC attended the new hockey pitch progress meeting this morning with the contractor confirming all works are going well and are on programme.

So far they have dug out the soil and levelled off with drainage and stone going in currently to provide the pitch base.

Over the next few weeks we should see the rugby pitch works being completed and seeded to allow it a few months of growth and the pitch base works being completed to allow a start on the flood lighting and the irrigation system being installed.

All going well with the weather we should have the pitch completed and handed over for use by Friday 4th September.

Who Can Guess the Colour of the Hockey Summer Camp T-Shirts?

With the first of four Hockey Summer Camps commencing on Monday the 29th June the question on everyone’s lips is…”What colour will the t-shirts be this time???”.  With the weather forecast for next week looking slightly more promising the club is excited for the start of camp season, however coaches would like to remind all children to bring their sun cream, thermals and waterproofs to the camps!!

29th June - 3rd July,

6th July - 10th July

Anyone wishing to reserve a place on any of the Camps should contact Ross McWilliam’s at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  Places are offered on a first come, first served basis.

UC&SC are delighted to announce that they received authorisation from Sportscotland today to proceed to construction stage of the hockey pitch development with the remainder of the funding already secured.

We are therefore in the process of instructing the contractor with a site start planned for 1st June 2015. We hope to have the pitch in place for pre season in August with the board now turning their attention to taking the changing block to planning and hopefully construction winter 2015.

Come along and roar the Gent Hockey 1's to National one

For the third year running the 1st XI will be competing in the end of season Play-Offs to battle it out for a place in National Division 1 next season. The Play-Offs consist of a two leg game against Edinburgh side Inverleith, who finished 7th in National Division 1 this season. An overall win over the two matches would see the gents promoted, should they lose they again would play a two leg dual the following weekend against the losing team between Dundee Wanderers and Hillhead. This final Play-off sends the winner to Division 1 and the loser to Division 2. The first match is a home game for Uddingston and will take place at Glasgow National Hockey Centre for a 3pm pushback, the second leg taking place at Peffermill National Playing Fields, Edinburgh, and is a 4pm pushback. Should the second pair of Play-off matches be required, both of these will take place at Glasgow National Hockey Centre with game times still to be announced. We hope you can make it along and support the first XI in their opening matches this weekend, let’s get behind the team and help push them over the line and secure division 1 hockey.

UC&SC Pitch & Changing Block Pledges
Dear members, parents, friends of the club,
As we have been promoting for some time now we had been planning to be at the final stage of the pitch development by the beginning of March, which I can confirm was reached on Monday when we met with Sport Scotland and received final sign off of our development.
The final remaining stage to be completed is the collection of all pledges, which we are hoping to have completed by 1st April 2015 with the view we would look to get started as soon as all pledges are in, which should allow a site start by the middle of April to have the pitch useable by July 2015 assuming all pledges come in.
Attached for your information is the template "confirmation of pledge" letter that will either be handed or posted out this week to all those that have pledged therefore can we request that you now take note of content and action as required please.  If you do not receive a letter by Monday 9th March please contact myself to have it resent.
If you have not pledged to date we would be delighted if you would now like to as every little bit helps and all you have to do is contact myself to confirm your pledge and I will confirm back the way via letter.   Any pledges made and not used on the pitch will be moved straight onto the changing block development so please pledge a little bit more or indeed pledge if not done so already.
If you are now having difficulty in confirming your pledge please contact myself as below to discuss as we are not wishing anyone put themselves into difficulty.
Finally thank you very much for all pledges made to date and lets all look forward to using our new pitch in the very near future and for years to come.
Allan McGill
