Pitch Development Works Update - Almost there.....

All members will be glad to know that we are almost at the end of the pitch development works and we would link to thank all our members, parents, friends and neighbours for their patience.

The Hockey and Rugby pitch works and Cricket nets are 99% finished with just some snagging to be completed over the next few weeks and we have now started the ground works to put in place a tarmac path from the club down to the hockey and rugby pitches, a spectating area for the hockey pitch and the existing car park extended to allow for at least an additional 40 cars to cope with busy periods.

Some additional works have been included already with the Rugby training area lighting all being replaced and enhanced with 12 new floodlights installed plus water connections added to both pitches for future installation of drinking fountains.

Once these works are complete this will formally see all originally agreed works completed however should funding allow we are hoping to also continue with some more works including lighting the new path down to the pitches and fencing in the full cricket outfield.

As we have highlighted before we are working to very tight budgets so if there is anyone that thinks they can help in anyway please get in touch but we also need all members to play their fees as the more members that pay to use our facilities the more we have to spend on upgrading and improving our fantastic facilities.  Please pay up.

Finally all going well we plan to move on with planning permission for a permanent changing block that will be designed to include 6 changing rooms plus a Gym so please expect us to be in contact soon regards this next phase that will be truly a benefit to the full club and all sections.

Hockey Pitch Development Update

The hockey pitch is progressing well and taking aside the particularly wet conditions we have had in the last month the contractor has done well to only be a few days behind on programme.

He was originally working towards handing it over to us by Friday 4th September but it is looking likely the handover date will now be Friday 11th September all going well.

The pitch itself is now fully formed with the pitch watering system almost complete that will then allow the floodlighting and fence to be started with the carpet being the final thing fitted prior to handover.

Although delayed due to recent wet conditions the landscaper starts their works this week, which will see them prioritise formation and seeding of the Rugby floodlit training area with the view of this becoming available within the next 5/6 weeks prior to the dark nights returning.

They will also smooth off, make good and seed the extended senior pitch side and end with the view that this area may be ready for the coming season however more than likely we will leave these areas to settle till next summer so the youth teams would continue to use the existing youth pitch and all senior home matches will be played at Porterswells.

Finally the areas surrounding the pitch will be finished off to dress the pitch that will see the contractors mains works complete.

The next phase of works will then progress with additional car parking being installed and the remaining area left over made good and levelled.

As usual should any member have any questions on the works or future plans for the club grounds please direct them to our President Allan McGill at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Multi-Sport Camps

Uddingston Cricket & Sports club hosted 3 Multi-Sport Camps over the School summer Holidays.  The popularity of the first two camps was outstanding, reaching over 60 children on some days.  So much so that we had to announce the further 3rd camp, on the last week of holidays, due to demand.

Each camp proved to be an ideal environment for children between 4-16 to take part in a number of sports including hockey, rugby, football and cricket.  All coached by qualified coaches.  Children also had the chance to interact in a whole host of activities and games such as rounders, pool, tig,  chess and other board games, which sadly in today’s age have been long forgot in the times of Ipads and tablets.

There are a number of pictures taken at the camp available that can be seen on Uddingston Cricket and Sports Club’s facebook page.  Also, there was a lot of lost property left at each camp.  If you feel your child may have left an item, feel free to pop into the clubhouse to check.

We are pleased to announce that the next Multi-Sport camp is being hosted during the October week; Monday 12th-Friday 16th.  Bookings are now being taken at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  This camp is now offering a breakfast club and late pick up (8:00am-5:00pm) to assist working parents.  Please visit www.uddingstoncsc.com or email for further details.
